Made by Gina gear is exactly that, gear that is made by Gina. By Gina Cox-Roberts in Shropshire, England to be exact. That's me.

The idea behind creating this range and this web site to showcase the gear grew organically. I started out by making crocheted garments for my own child. I began by checking out a few patterns for inspiration, but quite quickly started creating my own. It wasn't long before other parents were asking me where I'd got them from and I started making them as gifts, and then as commissions for the children of my friends and contacts.

At around this time I was digging around in some old pattern books that my mum had used to make clothes for myself and my sister when we were small. Many of them were inspirational only for their comedy value, but a few had definite potential to be reworked into garments that would work today, albeit with a somewhat retro style to them. Again, I made some for my daughter and very soon requests were coming in from all angles to make more for other children.

And that leads us nicely to here and now. I'm just a regular mum and I work part time in another field, but in my few moments of spare time I do enjoy getting crafty with wool or fabric. If I can make something that other people will enjoy whilst covering my costs then that's all for the good. :)

The range of gear is ever evolving and items are available by commission. This enables you to make your own colour and style preferences and gives me a chance to give you an accurate idea of the turnaround time. Sample prices are given on the site though I'm happy to rework the prices for a different type of wool/fabric or size and payment is by cheque or paypal. Postage is not included in any price shown.

If you like the look of what you see here and fancy something similar then drop me a line. I'm very happy to explore possibilities for creating new versions of any of my garments to create something unique to the child you have in mind. I've never made clothes for children over 2-3 years. I'm not opposed to the idea (and I'll adapt to it soon enough when my own child ovesteps that) but if you want something for an older child then please get in touch to discuss it.
